Fast Money, Big Ego
When last Friday finally arrived, I thought my worrying was over. I was ready to say confidently that Mike Wallace would not be leaving the Steelers. To my dismay, Wallace is not signing his contract until 'he has too', according to sources. I'm highly annolyed at this. Don't get me wrong he's my favorite player and all, but his attitude recently is making me wonder if he deserves to stay. The Steelers have the best organization in the NFL and he's being very disrespectful. He needs to just sign the contract and get over the fact that he can't be given the amount of money he wants right now.

Throwback Jerseys
The Steelers throwback jerseys released yesterday have been receiving mixed reviews. Some fans and players do not like the jerseys at all and think they look ridiculous. James Harrison made a comment on twitter that the jerseys were used back then for a reason and it is 2012 now. Others are supportive of the jersey because it pays respect to the teams of the past. Emmanuel Sanders did not give his initial opinion, but politely said he needs to 'see them in person'. Personally, I am not that big of a fan of them and am glad they do not wear them often.

Manning to the Broncos, Tebow to be traded
It was announced today that Peyton Manning will go to the Denver Broncos and "beloved" quarterback Tim Tebow will be traded. I am very interested to see what all of the Tebow/Bronco bandwagon fans will do now. Will they follow their quarterback somewhere else or are they going to have to learn the names of more Broncos? This NFL off-season has proved to be a very interesting one and I can not wait for the season to start.

Social Media Connects Athletes and Fans
We've all had those days, especially Mondays, that we just need some motivation to be productive. Before getting ready for the day, I went through my usual routine of checking up on twitter. I decided to tweet at Steelers WR Antonio Brown about his 'Chest Up, Eyes Up, Prayed Up' philosophy. To my surprise, I was retweeted by Brown minutes later. The impact social media sites have had on the relationship between professional athletes and their fans is remarkable. The simple click of a button that acknowledged that Brown read my post made my day.
A few other interesting posts have been made on twitter by other Steelers as well. James Harrison has been commenting on the current issue going on with the Saints. I am a huge fan of Harrison and love to read his comments on issues in the NFL. I also noticed this morning that a representative of Hines Ward had posted on his account a message of defiance against the decision to release the WR. The post was removed, but 96.1 took a screen shot of the post to allow viewers to see. It is definitely worth checking out!

Mike Wallace: Priority Number 1
The rumor mill in the NFL has been spinning like crazy the past few weeks. Will Steeler Nation be able to hold on to their beloved receiver Mike Wallace or will he be traded for a first round draft pick? I myself am a big fan of Mike Wallace and love the black and gold. The team has announced that Wallace is a top priority, but that does little to supress the media frenzy. Wallace has stated that Pittsburgh is where he wants to stay, but that this is a business and he may have to go to another team. The Patriots and the 49ers have both expressed interest in Wallace, but I do not see him leaving the Steelers. Ben Roethlisberger recently reconstructed his contract to save the team $8 million, and I believe other players will do the same. I think it would be a mistake to let a player like Wallace leave, but I would still support him wherever he plays. Unless he would go to the Ravens, in which case, as a Steelers fan, I'm obligated to dislike him at least a little bit.

UCA Staff Tryouts
This weekend I will be traveling to Central Dauphin High School to try out for UCA Northeast Staff. UCA, Universal Cheerleading Association, is responsible for instructing cheerleaders all over the country. The company teaches cheers, motions, and stunting at camps, hosts competitions, and helps to raise money for organizations like St. Judes. Last year was my first year with the company and it is hands down the best job I have ever had. I get to do what I love and watch athletes improve their skills, all while getting paid. For tryouts, we have to go through an interview process, learn a cheer and dance, stunt, and tumble. This year it will be more fun to go to tryouts because I know more people there and will get to have fun stunting around with cheerleaders on other teams. I can't wait to be reunited with my staff family and go teach camps this summer!!

Staying on the Sidelines
As a cheerleader, I am always front row to sporting events and have developed an understanding and love for sports. With my degree in Communication and minor in Sport Management, I hope to become a Sideline Reporter. I have always enjoyed talking about sports and I have an energetic personality that would work well on television. In the field, I see Erin Andrews as a role model. After she graduated college, it only took her four years to get a job with ESPN. Since then, her career has taken off and she is very successful. Working for ESPN is my ultimate goal.
